Remote Learning Week 2 Day 3

Room 5 is a class of fabulous learners and here is some of the work they have completed today.

We continued with the Anzac theme with today being a chance to get creative.  The children had to listen to a story and then create a care package that they would send to a family who was fighting in the war.

Many children have been working hard on the maths questions that have been set for the week with the majority solving the problems well.  I can't post any of the photo's yet or those who haven't completed the work yet could just cheat and look on here!  However I am so proud of all of those who have completed the maths so far.

Remote Learning Week 2 Day 2

Today has been another successful day for the students of Room 5 and their remote learning.  Today they investigated the 5 W's around ANZAC day here are some example of the wonderful work that was completed.

One of the other challenges for today was to do some 'Act's of Kindness' for the people in your bubble.  Inshirah did a picture for her Grandma and a bright colourful picture to cheer her family up.

Remote Learning Day 1 Week 2

Well today I struggled to keep up with all the emails containing work that the children were sending through to me!  This is such a positive thing and shows the children in Room 5 are so resilient and can work in a variety of conditions.

Today we continued with the ANZAC them but looked at how animals supported the war effort.

 One of the other challenges was to crack the maths code for the day and Inshirah show how to do this.

End of Week 1 of Remote Learning

Well the Room 5 children have risen to the challenge of remote learning with such enthusiasm and I have been so proud of what they have achieved in their bubbles.

Today for Funday Friday we had a science theme around baking soda using other cooking ingredients that are in the kitchen.

Annabelle, Amelia and Tom did the balloon baking soda.  Both were really successful. 

Chido gave the honey comb a try and said it tasted delish!!

Once again I just can't say how proud I am of all the children in Rm 5 for showing resilience, responsibility and respect for this history making situation!

Day Two of Remote Learning

Today the children continued to work on a variety of Anzac challenges.  I have been wowed with the level of work that has been completed in such a different learning environment.

Today Mila and Deacon designed a NZ war medal that they would give out.  Mila took a different approach and gave hers for dogs that were supportive of the war effort.  Deacon gave his out for bravery and courage.

Another challenge was to write a letter home to a family or friend pretending that they were activity involved in WW1.  Here is some examples from Bella and Lochie.

Day One of Term 2 and Remote Learning

Today was Room 5s first day of remote learning during this level 4 lockdown and I have been so impressed with the work that has been achieved by a number of children.

I have just put up a sample of the work that was shared and done today.

Cameron Delany read the story Anzac Ted and then wrote this which brought a tear to my eye!

Hi my name is Anzac Ted.  I'm a bit old to look at, my tummy's torn, I'm old and gold, stinky and dirty.  I only got one eye I have a patch on my missing one, I've got one ear and everyone hates me apart from my owner who is a kid.  His grandfather was my owner and he died in the war.

My jacket is army green and torn, my past is sad but sometimes it is good to talk about.  Whenever I get entered in a favourite toy compeititon I get hate from all the other kids because of the way I look.  But they might change their mind if they new my story.

Here's a little bit of my story so it started off when I was young when I went to war, we had fight against our foe which is our enemy.  You see many things in war that are horrible and sad.  I was like a mascot to the army I have them peace when they were very badly hurt, sad and lonely.  I've helped a lot of people in my time. 

People that were in the war are heroes, I guess I am a hero too.  Not everyone looks like a hero.

Amelia and Tom researched a game from the early 1900's and then gave it a try in their driveway.  I love how they spray painted it so no amount of rain will wash that away!!

Hopscotch began in ancient Britain during the early roman empire hopscotch courts were 100 feet long and used for military causes and training.

Mila made Anzac Biscuits which she has renamed Anzac pancakes.

Hannah and her mum also made some Anzac Biscuits which Hannah said her dad loved!!

Planting Poppies with Sue

Today we were lucky enough to have Sue Coleman come in and teach us how to plant poppy seeds.  We are hopping these will geminate and sprout before ANZAC day on the 25th of April.
