Grey District Library Poetry Competition

Solly entered the Grey District Library Poetry Competition in August and won first prize in his age group with his poem, "The Magic Box", which was inspired by a poem of the same name by Kit Wright. Well done, Solly, for writing a great poem, and for entering it. Here is his poem in a slide show:

  1. Hello room 5, I want to congratulate Solly for coming first in the Grey District Library Poetry Competition in his age group. I also liked your poet, "The Magic Box" You did an awesome job creating this presentation. How did you feel winning this competition?

  2. CONGRATULATIONS Solly, I am super impressed with your poem and can see why you won first prize in your age group. I googled Kit Wright to check out your inspiration. Nice work:-) The thing I like best in your box is 'the taste of a salty wave on a scorching day'. I wouldn't be so keen on 'an eye of an eagle devouring its prey'. How long did it take to write your poem? Where did you get all of your ideas from?

  3. Thank you for your comment. I think it only took about a week to write the poem. I got my ideas mainly from looking around the classroom and a few from books I've read.
