Oral Assessments 2020

 Today we had 13 children from Awahono participate in the NZ Speechboard Competitions.  This is where an assessor comes into our school to hear the children do a talk/speech on a topic, present a poem and for the senior children do some impromptu talking.

I was so proud today to watch these children shine.  And for many of them it was their first time competition in this.

Out of 13 children we got 9 distinction, 2 highly commended and a commended.  This incredible for a school of just 83 children to achieve to such a high standard.  I am so proud of you all!!

Speeches

This term Room 5 have been working on their speeches and supporting presentation.  Everyone in the class has to present a speech on a topic they are familiar with.  We are only 1 week into our presentations but the standard of the speeches has been amazing.  Well done to Taylor-Rose for being the first to present, to Cameron, Annabelle, Indea-May, Amelia, Lochie, Hunter and Tyler for all being in our first week.
