We have started a new novel study in Room 5 on the book The Mines Afire. This book is based on the Brunner Mine site. So far in the book we have learnt about the bridge across the Grey river and how different it was back in the late 1800's. We also have been looking at all the different famous bridges around the world. The children were given the opportunity to design and build their own bridge with just once criteria........it must be able to hold a sphereo. This was a wonderful activity that allowed the children to experiment, build and show some of the key competencies, while having a fantastic Funday Friday!
Hello Room 5....looks like you're having such a great start to your term. I miss you! I see you've got a few new faces in Room 5, will be watching out for your blog posts, keep an eye out for me, and keep me in the know as to what you're up to, all the fun learning you're doing. Cheers...Mrs. Horner
ReplyDeleteHi room five, I'm Sophie. You guys have put a lot of effort into these awesome bridges you made!I quite like the one that has a roof and sticks crossing over each other. I reckon it kind of looks like the railway bridge on the way to Hokitika.AWESOME WORK ROOM 5!
